Severe Storms, Strong Wind Gusts Pounding Area: Here's Latest Info

Severe thunderstorms and strong winds are making for a stormy Halloween night.

On Long Island, nearly 3,000 power outages have been reported at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch was issued at 7:54 p.m. lasting through 1 a.m. Friday, Nov. 1 for Westchester, Putnam, Rockland and Orange counties.

Strong winds are bringing down scattered limbs, trees, and power lines. More power outages are expected.

A wind advisory for Coastal Fairfield, Nassau County and southern Suffolk County is in effect through 6 a.m. Friday, Nov. 1.

Wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour are possible in the advisory area, the National Weather Service says.

It will dry out to start the new month on Friday, Nov. 1, which will be a breezy and cooler day. 

Look for mostly sunny skies with a high temperature in the mid to upper 50s. Wind will be out of the west at 18 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Saturday, Nov. 2 will be sunny and continued cool with a high temperature in the mid 50s.

On Sunday, Nov. 3: Look for another pleasant, dry day with sunny skies and a high again the mid 50s.

The sunny stretch continues on Monday, Nov. 4 with the high temperature again around 55 degrees.
